Do something good for yourself today!
It has been a week past summer vacations now but my younger sister has been ranting about not doing anything good. Luckily, it rained cats and dogs yesternight followed by a beautiful day today. After a whole day hustle, I sat down, took a deep breath and opened up my laptop do take notes of my class lectures. My sister literally jumped on me and exclaimed with joy that the evening is beautifully aesthetic. For the first time, without any second thoughts, I turned off my laptop, grabbed a cup of tea and went to the terrace with my sister.

Upon stepping out on the terrace, a warm Deja-vu hit swirled me into the good old days as the mild fragrance of brewed apple cider and riped pears entered my nostrils. I glanced at the beaming sky that was perfectly blue with a fluffy pattern of clouds. I bet a child would have reckoned them as pink cotton candy. I inhaled a good amount of air and let my lungs get the most out of it.
To the left of the horizon, a continuous series of hills, that was now heavy with the charcoal shadow of the evening dazed me. I felt my heart and mind dancing to a merry trance. I gazed upon the clouds that drifted by slowly, shifting their colors as the spectrum of dusk kissed them goodbye. “Fatemah! I think this was the best thing we have done so far.”
Fatemah stared at me in complete disbelief so I carried on, “See, nature is the most beautiful blessing for us. It lights up your day when you are feeling down, accompanies you when everyone turns their backs on you, caresses you and cherishes you most dearly. Even the mini cicadas never get tired of chirping to us, they constantly remind you that mother nature is keeping an eye on us. When nothing makes sense in life, the perfect harmony of the day and night teaches us a lesson so beautiful that every darkness is followed by the most brilliant day.”

To my surprise, my sister smirked in agreement. She also understood the trance of mother nature and I think she was feeling the same. I realized that in all this hustle, we turn a blind eye towards the beauty of purple dusks and magical dawns, all the mesmerizing evenings that are meant to be cherished with our family, the twilights; where the moon shines so bright and all the noons that are heavily diffused with the scent of harvest. We are all so indulged in our homework, and machines that we don’t realize that there is a need to do something good today, something good for yourself!
The time is flying like the crazy snitch; impossible to catch. Our parents are getting older doing their monotonous tasks, siblings mature enough to even talk to you properly for once throughout the time span of 24 hours. There certainly will come a time when we will regret that we failed to extract the real goodness out of our lives.

If you cant go for a fancy vacation, expensive trips or don’t have time for tiring picnics, just grab a cup of hot chocolate and drink it together in your lawn. What about baking some cinnamon rolls this evening and munching them while enjoying the rain, instead of lazying around in your bed. Maybe kiss your partner in the dim shimmer of the stars or set a table on your terrace to relish a minimal candlelight dinner below the starry sky tonight!
Besides all the other important things in your life, your mind and soul require a complete shut down from the Robo-routine and take an evening stroll or maybe set the alarm to enjoy the colorful sunrise. Nature can work wonders for us without us even realizing. Just try to get up earlier than usual one day and go out for a morning walk. Your day will be completely different from other days in which you stay up all night staring on the screen and rising late in the morning while rushing to your workplace. Find the happy-time for yourself every day and mark it as one of the good things you have done.
